EU4M Erasmus Mundus 2027 — Funded Mechatronics Master's
Fully funded Master scholarship in Spain for All nationalities students 2027
Funded mechatronics master's led by the University of Oviedo: tuition plus a €1,400 monthly allowance. The 2027-2029 scholarship round closes 15 January 2027.
Eligibility
- Bachelor's in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, automation or robotics engineering
- Coursework or projects spanning control, electronics and programming
- English or track language evidence as required by the consortium
- Two academic references
- Open to all nationalities; final-year students may apply
EU4M is the Erasmus Mundus joint master in mechatronic engineering, and its 2027-2029 online registration is open. The consortium, coordinated by the University of Oviedo in Spain, is accepting scholarship applications until 15 January 2027.
What it covers
An Erasmus Mundus scholarship under this programme covers participation costs and pays a monthly allowance for the duration of the two-year course, at the standard Erasmus Mundus rate of €1,400 a month for up to 24 months. The allowance is intended for travel, installation and living costs rather than as a separate travel budget.
Mechatronics sits where mechanical design, electronics, control and computing meet, so the degree is built for people who want to build systems rather than analyse one layer of them. The consortium's own student accounts describe the value as much in terms of working in a fourth language as in the laboratory.
Who can apply
The programme is open to European and non-European applicants, and the call does not restrict nationality. A bachelor's degree in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, automation, robotics or a closely related engineering field is the normal entry profile, and final-year students can apply while their degree is completing.
Because the scholarship round is administered by the consortium rather than by a national agency, there is no separate nomination step and no home-country quota to clear before you apply.
Eligibility self-check
• Is your bachelor's in engineering, and can you point to coursework in control, electronics or programming rather than only mechanical design?
• Have you checked the language of instruction for the track you want, and do you hold the certificate the consortium asks for?
• Can you show a project where you integrated hardware and software, not just one of the two?
• Do you have two academic references who can speak to laboratory or project work?
• Have you confirmed you have never held an Erasmus Mundus joint master scholarship?
• Can you commit to studying in more than one European country, with the visa steps that follow?
Deadline
The scholarship submission period closes on 15 January 2027. The consortium's own site states the online registration for the 2027-2029 intake is available and that applicants may apply until 15 January; there is no second scholarship round advertised for this intake.
Applications that arrive after the deadline are treated as self-funded enquiries, which is a materially different financial position. Treat the date as hard.
How to apply
1. Read the programme pages for the track structure and the partner institutions before you open the form.
2. Register on the consortium's online application platform, hosted by the University of Oviedo.
3. Complete the academic and language sections, and upload your degree records, CV and motivation letter.
4. Submit the application and keep the confirmation; the consortium communicates results by email.
Application materials checklist
• Bachelor's diploma and transcript, with translation where required.
• CV in English, with project work described by what you built and what it did.
• Motivation letter tied to the mechatronics track rather than to engineering in general.
• English certificate or documented English-medium instruction.
• Passport scan and, where requested, a passport-style photograph.
• Two academic references.
Common mistakes to avoid
• Applying with a purely mechanical portfolio. Mechatronics committees look for the integration point between mechanics, electronics and control.
• Writing a motivation letter that praises Europe. The committee is selecting engineers, not tourists.
• Assuming the January date is flexible because the portal stays open. Registration and scholarship consideration are not the same thing.
• Omitting language evidence because the degree was taught in English, without checking whether the consortium accepts that as proof.
• Applying to a second Erasmus Mundus programme in the same year without checking the three-application rule and the one-scholarship rule.
Tips to win
The programme is only two years long and the thesis sits in the final semester, so the first year is where the foundation has to be laid. Applicants who arrive able to read a control diagram and write the code behind it spend less of that year catching up, and the committee knows it.
Describe one system end to end. A line-following robot, a sensor rig, a small CNC conversion — any project where you chose the motor, wrote the loop and debugged the noise is worth more than a list of software packages.
Show the failure you fixed. Committees in engineering read for debugging instinct, because that is what the second year demands when the thesis hardware does not behave.
Connect the two years deliberately. Explain which partner's specialisation you want and what you would build there; the mobility is compulsory, so a plan reads as maturity rather than as preference.
For applicants from Afghanistan or Pakistan, begin the credential translation and the language test in October. January arrives quickly once a translation queue is involved.

Applications go directly to the consortium through the platform linked from that official page. If you want help deciding whether your transcript reads as mechatronics rather than mechanical engineering, an OEAC advisor can review it with you before the deadline.
