Fully funded Master scholarship for All nationalities students 2027

A two-year double-degree public health master's from eight European universities, taught in English, French or Spanish. Scholarships close 8 January 2027.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, social sciences or a related field
  • Language proficiency for your chosen pathway: English, French or Spanish
  • Professional or volunteer experience in public health, health care or social work strengthens the application
  • All supporting documents uploaded with English translations where required
  • Apply by 8 January 2027, 13:00 CET for the scholarship round

Public health funding is scarce at master's level, and most of what exists is tied to a single university in a single country. EuroPubHealth+ is the exception: eight European universities, a double degree, seven specialisations and a mobility path that puts you in at least two health systems before you graduate. The 2027-2029 scholarship round opened on 8 October 2026 and closes on 8 January 2027 at 13:00 CET.

The programme has run since 2006 and has been recognised as a Master of Excellence by the European Commission throughout. That longevity matters for one practical reason: the alumni network and the placement record are real, not a promise attached to a first-edition programme.

What it covers

Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders receive a contribution towards participation costs and a monthly living allowance for the duration of the two-year programme, plus the insurance required by Erasmus+ rules. The consortium is candid about the odds — fewer than one per cent of applicants receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship — and says so on its own funding page, which is a more honest signal than most promotional pages offer.

The degree itself is a double master's: one national degree from each university on your pathway, plus a EuroPubHealth+ certificate of achievement and a joint diploma supplement that records the pathway, marks and grading scale. The consortium is made up of University College Dublin, EHESP in France, the University of Granada, the University of Liège, Maastricht University, the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, the University of Sheffield and the University of Bordeaux.

Teaching runs in English, Spanish or French depending on the pathway, and the seven specialisations are chosen in the second year. That structure suits applicants who know they want public health but have not yet decided between epidemiology, health policy, management or humanitarian health.

Who can apply

The programme is open to graduates in health sciences, social sciences and related fields, and it explicitly values professional experience in public health, health care or social work, including volunteer work, placements and summer jobs. That is a genuine opening for applicants who have worked in NGOs, clinics or community programmes rather than going straight from a bachelor's into a master's.

Language is the binding constraint, not the degree. Because teaching happens in up to three languages, you must meet the language requirement for the pathway you choose, and the consortium warns that test centres fill up as the deadline approaches. If your French is conversational but untested, the French-taught pathway may be closed to you in practice even though the rules allow it.

Test yourself with three questions. Do I have a documented public health or health-adjacent experience I can describe in concrete terms — a vaccination campaign, a clinic audit, a community survey? Can I meet the language requirement for the pathway I actually want, with a certificate I already hold or can book this month? And am I applying to the January scholarship deadline rather than the March self-funded one, because the two are assessed separately?

How to apply

Applications are submitted through the consortium's EMundus platform, hosted by the Jagiellonian University Medical College, entirely in English and with all supporting documents uploaded. Before starting, read the Instructions for Applicants PDF for the 2027-29 round, which is published on the programme site and sets out the document list and the language evidence rules in detail.

The first deadline, 8 January 2027 at 13:00 CET, is the scholarship deadline. The second, 24 March 2027, is for self-funded students only. Applicants who need a visa are advised to use the January date regardless, because the March results arrive too late to organise a residence permit comfortably.

Shortlisted candidates are interviewed on 18 February 2027, in a fifteen-minute online format with programme professors, and are told one week in advance. Results follow within nine weeks of each deadline.

Tips to win

The selection criteria are published, which means the application can be engineered. Reasons for choosing this programme, educational credentials, professional experience, international projects and personal skills are the five scored dimensions. Most applicants are strong on credentials and vague on the first and fourth.

Write the motivation section around a specific second-year specialisation and a specific health system problem. "I want to work on antimicrobial stewardship in displaced-population clinics, which is why the Granada pathway and the epidemiology specialisation fit" is a sentence a reviewer can score. "Public health is my passion" is not.

Treat the interview as a scored component. Fifteen minutes is enough to establish whether you know what the programme teaches; it is not enough to recover from having clearly not read the curriculum.

Common mistakes: uploading a language certificate that expires before September 2027; applying to the scholarship round with a file that is missing a transcript translation; and choosing a pathway by country rather than by specialisation, then discovering in year two that the modules you wanted were taught in a language you do not have.

One more, specific to this programme: the double degree means two sets of registration paperwork. Applicants who leave document legalisation until August routinely lose a semester.

An OEAC advisor can map your transcripts against the pathway requirements, check which language certificate your chosen specialisation actually needs, and review the motivation section before the January deadline.
