Yenching Academy funds all admitted scholars through the Yenching Fellowship. For the first academic year the fellowship covers tuition, a room in the Academy's on-campus residence (usually a two-bedroom suite shared with one other scholar), a monthly stipend, basic medical insurance, one round-trip journey between Beijing and a base city in your country of nationality, and research and field study costs. The programme runs for two years, but the fellowship is granted for twelve months at first; scholars who remain in Beijing in good academic standing can apply for second-year fellowship support. About 120 scholars are admitted each year and roughly 75 per cent of the student body is international.
