DAAD EPOS Scholarship 2027 — MSc International Health, Charité Berlin
Fully funded Master scholarship in Germany for Developing Countries students 2026
A fully funded DAAD EPOS award for the MSc International Health at Charité Berlin, aimed at health professionals from low and middle income countries who will apply the training at home.
Eligibility
- Open to health professionals from eligible low and middle income countries holding a four-year degree equivalent to 240 ECTS, with an above-average result and at least two years of relevant professional experience. The most recent degree must be under six years old.
## The DAAD EPOS MSc International Health scholarship: What This Award Actually Covers
The DAAD EPOS MSc International Health scholarship is one of the programmes students search for by name, and the search intent is almost always the same: can I qualify, and what do I have to do? This guide answers both from a student's point of view rather than restating the announcement.
The award is aimed at health professionals from low and middle income countries taking a one-year fast-track master's. The single most useful thing you can do before writing anything is check the eligibility rules against your own record, because the majority of rejected applications fail on a formal requirement rather than on merit.
Always read the official programme page before you rely on any summary, including this one: the official DAAD EPOS page
## Eligibility: Run Your Own Self-Check First
Before you invest a week in an application, answer these questions honestly.
- Are you from an eligible low or middle income country under the DAAD EPOS rules? - Do you hold a four-year academic degree equivalent to at least 240 ECTS? - Were your academic results in the upper third or clearly above average? - Do you have at least two years of relevant professional experience after your bachelor's degree, at the time of application? - Is your most recent degree less than six years old at the deadline? - Can you meet the English requirement of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80, or certify English-taught prior study where accepted?
If you answered no to any of the formal requirements, stop and look at a different programme rather than trying to explain your way around the rule. Selection committees apply formal criteria before they read a personal statement, so a strong essay cannot rescue an ineligible application.
## Deadline and What the Timeline Really Means
Applications run from 1 August to 15 October 2026 for admission in September 2027. The lead time is deliberate: the programme needs time to arrange the German language course that begins in July, and you need time to gather employment certificates proving your two years of practice. Charité receives more than 800 applications for its MSc programme annually and awards up to three EPOS scholarships a year for it.
Treat the published date as the last possible moment, not a target. Two things reliably cause people to miss scholarship deadlines: waiting for a language test result, and waiting for a referee to write a letter. Both depend on other people. Request references at least six weeks early and book your language test before you start the application, not after.
## How to Apply
Complete the online DAAD EPOS application form and submit the required documents to Charité within the August to October window. This is one application for both the scholarship and the programme. The award is for the one-year fast-track option of the MSc, which is the route required for EPOS recipients. If you do not have sufficient professional experience for the fast-track, you are not eligible for this scholarship.
## Application Materials Checklist
- Signed DAAD application checklist and application form - Signed Europass CV - Motivation letter, maximum two pages - Employer recommendation letter - Employment certificates proving at least two years of relevant professional experience - English language certificate, or a certification of English-taught prior study where accepted - University diplomas and academic transcripts - APS certificate where applicable, plus a passport copy
## Tips to Win
- Write the motivation letter around a health problem in your own country and the specific change you intend to make on return. - Get the employer recommendation letter from someone who can describe your practice, not just your seniority. - Note that the fast-track programme includes a field module completed in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Mention how that fits your goals if it does. - Start the English test early. A missing certificate is a common and unnecessary disqualifier.
The applicants who succeed are rarely the ones with the highest grades. They are the ones whose application answers the specific question the programme is asking, with evidence rather than adjectives. If the programme asks about development impact, give an example with a result. If it asks about research fit, name the work you want to do and who you want to do it with.
## Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Leaving the file naming and submission instructions to chance. Charité states that incorrectly labelled or incomplete applications cannot be considered. - Applying without proof of two years of professional experience. - Assuming the fast-track is optional. For EPOS recipients it is not. - Missing the APS certificate requirement for your country.
A predictable failure pattern runs through most rejected applications: the candidate checks the headline eligibility criteria but misses one formal document rule, or applies to a version of the programme they are not eligible for. Reading the official call end to end, and comparing it against this checklist, removes almost all of that risk.
## Where to Get Help
Applying to international scholarships with documentation in a second language is where most strong candidates lose time and, sometimes, the opportunity itself. An OEAC advisor can review your eligibility, check that your documents match the required format, and help you work out which of these programmes fits your profile best.
Contact an OEAC advisor before you submit, and we will go through the requirements with you line by line.
